As an Embedded Engineer II here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for the design, development, and debugging of embedded software and firmware. You will collaborate cross-functionally to define system requirements and specifications and ensure the efficient, timely completion of embedded software projects. You will report directly to our 1 and you’ll work out of our Tianjin, China location on a Hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will impact the development of innovative embedded systems that enhance building automation solutions, contributing to safer, more energy-efficient, and sustainable building environments. Help to build a strong, diverse team by recruiting talent, identifying, and developing successors, driving retention and engagement, and fostering an inclusive culture KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Design, develop, and debug embedded software solutions • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements • Ensure timely completion of software projects • Conduct code reviews and implement testing procedures YOU MUST HAVE • Strong understanding of Linux architecture, kernel/user-space concepts, and operating principles. • Proven experience in BSP porting for ARM-based SoCs (preferably NXP i.MX series), including board bring-up, peripheral validation, and early-stage debugging. • Hands-on experience with secure boot and secure firmware update solutions; familiarity with U-Boot configuration, customization, and porting. • Proficient in C/C for embedded development, with scripting capability in Bash and/or Python for automation and tooling. • Solid experience with cross-compilation environments, including GCC toolchains and embedded build frameworks such as Yocto. • Proficient in Git-based development workflows; familiarity with CI/CD practices for embedded software delivery. • Exposure to FreeRTOS development is preferred. • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes. • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively in global cross-functional teams. • Self-driven, positive, and capable of delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
